Carte Brute Alpine

Our folding map gathers 40 pioneering objects in wood, stone and concrete that boldly reimagine alpine traditions. It shines a light on simple but striking landmarks in architecture, art and infrastructure from all Swiss mountain regions from 1928 to today. The transalpine expedition leads from the early masterpieces of concrete modernism to avant-garde huts and spaceship-like objects, climbs postmodernist peaks in Ticino and ends in contemporary highlights by the who-is-who in Swiss architecture. The grandiose but now deconstructed Julier Tower lives on as a poster on the back.

Each object is featured with a picture. The legend lists key data – construction period, architects, location and nearest public transport point. An introduction in German and English adds additional insights. The map on the detachable cover provides easy navigation.
