Welbeck is a multi storey car park built by Michael Blampied & Partners just off London’s Oxford Street in 1968-70. Its striking diamond-shaped facade is formed of pre-cast concrete panels. The brutalist gem speaks of the bold optimism of its time as much as it speaks of today: Welbeck is currently being demolished to make way for a luxury hotel. Diamonds are not forever, after all.
