BETON BLUTT (NAKED CONCRETE): A PRINT PRESENTATION

28.11 THROUGH TO 2020 AT PRINT MATTERS! IN ZURICH

Brutalism’s photogenic brashness is a perfect fit for this day and age

finds Karin Hunter Bürki of HEARTBRUT. The writer & photographer captures brutalism’s hard-edged beauty and reformulates its bold attitude, upfront honesty and irreverence as a go-to strategy for making it through this day and age: take heart, show guts, embrace imperfections. Let’s face it, life is both brutally tough and beautiful.

In any case, Karin’s images make it easy to succumb to the brash, but irritatingly photogenic allure of these sculptural monoliths. At Print Matters! she presents a selection of her concrete beauties from Switzerland and London as signed & numbered print editions, alongside her regular Brutalist Beauties card sets.

The Line-Up:

La Tulipe (Jack Bertoli, Genf, 1976)

Maurerhalle (Hermann Baur, Basel, 1961)

National Theatre (Denys Lasdun, London, 1976)

Trellick Tower (Ernö Goldfinger, London 1972)

Autosilo Balestra (Lugano, unknown)

Welbeck Street Car Park (M. Blampied, London, 1970)
